SHADOS LIL SWEETHART ** Foaled 2/14/08 ** Filly ** Sire: A Glimpz of Shado ** Dam: Gold Ace Heartbreak ** Some women get flowers for Valentine's Day, some women get candy, some women get jewels - I get horses! and couldn't be happier! Isn't she adorable?
Sweetie got her daddy's head and coloring, and got her momma's size. She has beautiful movement and we can't wait to see how she grows up.
SHADOS EASTER BONNET ** Foaled 3/15/08 ** Filly ** Sire: A Glimpz of Shado ** Dam: White Fire Legacy** Bonnet stayed in there much longer than we expected and then surprised us with her early morning arrival. She has her daddy's pretty head and her momma's legs, she is going to be tall.
That white eyeliner is cute too, but unfortunately it usually means that her dark coat will lighten dramatically and she will look like her momma before she is a yearling.
Bonnet is very friendly and curious. We expect that she will become a real pocket pony shortly.
SHADOS RED HOT HANNA ** Foaled 5/19/07 ** Filly ** Sire: A Glimpz of Shado ** Dam: My Red Hot Glory ** Hanna is the first foal of 2007 on our place, and she is Glory's very first foal. I love this "peanut butter" face - here she bumped Glory's udder and got sprayed because it was so full.
Glory telling Hanna to be a little more gentle...little blur here as the photographer tries not to laugh...Glory had bagged up and was dripping milk at the evening feeding, so I moved her to the foaling pen. I really didn't think that she was due yet, I didn't think that she took on her first breeding last year, and maiden mares don't birth right away when they first bag up (in my experience), but, baby Hanna was waiting for us at the following morning feeding.

First nap...

Tex thinks he is guarding the newest member of the family as she has her first nap, and mamma Glory takes a break.

LUCKIS HEART O GOLD ** Foaled: 06/02/2006 ** Filly ** Sire: Lucki Macho Sparki ** Dam: Gold Ace Heartbreak ** 90% FPD
Lucki isn't sure about the camera flash but is willing to put up with it in the hope of getting a treat. You can see where she has also pushed down the fence so that she can reach out and touch noses with our dog.
Here is a recent (July 2007) photo of Lucki, the others are about 6 months old. You can see that her mane is coming in dark this year and she is showing us just what a large horse she is going to become when she is full grown. I sometimes forget that she only looks small next to the 17 hand gelding that is her babysitter. When I get her out next to one of the other horses, I have to remind myself that she is only a yearling when she is the same size as the 2 year olds.

BIT O PEBBLES ** Foaled March 2005 ** Filly ** Sire: Bit O Thunder ** Dam: None Yas Pebbles ** 87% FPD Our Pebbles is a big girl and she takes after both her sire and her dam in that aspect. Pebbles is a Shado mare, her grandsire is Ha-Dar Shado, you can see where she got her color from him. She is uniquely curious and has to see what she can do to get your attention at all times. She loves to be brushed and practically goes to sleep while you brush her.
Pebbles has an amazingly smooth and fluid movement and will make an awesome hunter in hand this year. You have to see her in action to believe the beauty in it. Pebbles is NOT for sale.
LUCKI'S CINNAMON GIRL ** Foaled May 2005 ** Filly ** Sire: Lucki Macho Sparki ** Dam: Rebel's Foxi Heart ** 87% FPD ** Cinnamon is lovely leopard and a granddaughter of Sully Rebel Star, she is FPD and can be traced back to Sundance. She is NOT for sale. Cinnamon will be added to our breeding program and bred to our stallion when she is old enough. She has a very sweet and loving personality and a very calm disposition.
Cinnamon is here sharing hay with my husband's big TB gelding, "Twofer", who is a retired race horse. These two take turns nudging us from behind when we clean out water troughs, occasionally giving me a dunking. That isn't so bad, it is the blowing in my ear when I am working on a piece of fence that is really distracting.
Here is Cinnamon, Pebbles, and Twofer all waiting at the gate for treats.
